2001 Chateau d’Yquem, Sauternes/Barsac, Bordeaux, France

(From 0.375 cl. Bottle)

Mama Mia – this wine is scary. I think it’s fair to say that it’s by far the best dessert wine I have ever tasted. This is fluent gold with eight double turbo engines taking you from 0-paridise in a blink of a second. It’s actually impossible to write a TN on it, as I can’t get through the layers of fruit, even if I took a vacation in the glass – seriously impressive; apricot, almond essence, raisins, pineapple and even liquorice. The taste is almost harder to describe as the liquid glues to the palate for nearly forever, but still in an elegant manner. There can only be one score to such a wine (100).
