1999 Soldera, Case Basse, Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy

Ahhh man…what a wine and what a colour. Extremely light and compared with the oldest wine of the tasting – the 1982 there was not much of a difference. The wine is surprisingly open and seems almost perfectly mature. Leather, sport sole, minerals, sweet berries all around. The taste is likewise brilliant with unheard clarity and minerals. On the last drops a bitter component is added - a reminder of a young wine, despite the open nose and the light colour. (97)
