2001 La Corte, Re, Puglia, Italy

Deep red, with blackcurrant, mocha, and a touch of balsamic. But very much dominated by a mineral note which reminded me of a pencil. The pencil gives a slightly cool touch, not like iron but enough to keep the vibrant fruit in a firm grip. The taste is full bodied and the finish is long (+30sec.) and still with youthful firm tannin. (90+)

Tasted September 2004
