Dark red. Sweet oak notes, vanilla. Chocolate, herbs, coffee. The hole nose impression melts together and it’s taking away some focus in the wine. The taste is with a marmalade character and I am missing some structure. After the sweet notes are gone I would be concerned of the future for this wine.(90)

2000 Le Macchiole, Paleo, Bolgheri, Tuscany, Italy
(70% CS, 30% CF) The blend has once again changed. Nose has a good portion of warmth, which is nice. But it slowly transforms into a plum note, bringing a lot of sweetness to the wine and chocolate and coffee as secondary notes. It’s definitely a very pleasant wine but the nose needs that extra layer for me to score higher. The taste has dark blackcurrant in the finale with a bit of tar in the closing. (90)
