2001 Le Macchiole, Scrio IGT, Bolgheri, Tuscany, Italy

didn’t decant Scrio more than 1 hour before it entered the glasses. I was simply afraid that it would make the same turn as 2001 Messorio did back in March. But no – Scrio gained strength all the time in the glass. One thing that stayed with the wine was its massive doze of fresh Tuscan Herbs – I have never seen anything like it – with thyme as the dominate herb. Sweetness, and liquorice only showed up late in the glass and the first few sniffs was dominated by these herbs, black fruits, mint and pine needles. Taste is concentrated and really needs some time. Best Points guess (94-96)
