1999 Dal Forno Romano, Valpolicella, Veneto, Italy

(Served blind)

Guessing my way to Italy on this one, and I also got the vintage more and less right. But from there it went downhill. It possesses a high level of minerals. At first; liquorice, milk chocolate and a nice vibe from the fruit core. But then slowly the wine gets much more lead pencil and lots of minerals with cool stone attack. The taste is potent – hard and tar. Clearly this wine is not ready for drinking now. (93+)
